What is the Shichida Method?

The Shichida Method is an early childhood enrichment program that

  • Activates the innate abilities of the right brain
  • Enhances the whole brain by connecting  and synchronizing the functions both right and left brains
  • Emphasizes on parent-child bonding
  • Brings out the best in your child!

At what age should my child attend the Shichida Method training?

The brain develops almost entirely by the age of 6 years old, therefore it is most effective to start early.  Our program starts at age 6 months and runs up to 6 years of age.  While the best results are achieved by starting early, an older child that joins will also benefit.  Each child that joins our program will take a development assessment to ensure he/she is placed in the right class to achieve the optimal results.

How is your program structured?

The Shichida Method is a weekly program, arranged into 4 school terms.  Each lesson is 50 minutes long with a maximum of 6 students per class.  Classes are organized by age and the age spread of a class is no more than 6 months for children below 3 years old and no more than 12 months for children above 3 years old.

How is the Shichida Method different than other programs that feature right-brain training?

The Shichida Method combines the right brain education, which develops children’s sensibilities, with the conventional left brain education and develops the brain, heart and body in a balanced manner.

This concept of “Soul Education” is very unique to the Shichida Method.  Age 0 to 6 is the critical period of a child’s development, and the bond formed between the parents and child will shape this relationship for the rest of the child’s life.  The involvement of the parents as suggested by the Shichida Method will develop a sense of “oneness” between parents and child, and this love will lead to the child growing up to be a caring, sensitive and responsible person.

How successful is the Shichida Method?

The Shichida Method has been taught in over 450 schools in Japan for over 30 years.  Outside Japan, schools are operated in the following countries,

  • Taiwan
  • Singapore
  • Malaysia
  • Indonesia
  • Thailand
  • Unites Sates of America
  • Australia and
  • China

We continuously get reports on children’s progress and achievements around the world.  For some parent’s feedback, please visit our Testimonial section.

What is my involvement as a parent?

To help your child achieve his/her greatest potential, parents are encouraged to carry out suggested activities with their children at home everyday.  Not only will this help greatly with the development of the child, these activities are fun and help the parents and child to spend quality time together for bonding.  30 minutes a day is all that is required.

Does it mean that a parent need not send a child to other learning programs like speech and drama, piano or language class?

According to Professor Makoto Shichida, the focus should be on brain development, especially on the right brain when the child is still young.  When the brain is trained well, innate abilities of the child will naturally be drawn out.  Abilities such as photographic memory, high-speed calculation and perfect pitch become an excellent foundation for children to pursue other talents.  We encourage parents to select additional classes for children according to their interest, since having fun is very important for children.

Do you offer a Prenatal class?

The Shichida Method includes a 4 week prenatal program designed for pregnant women who have entered their 2nd trimester.  The Shichida Method Prenatal program is based on the original right brain theory, giving encouragement to the fetus growing inside the mother and creating an emotional bond between the fetus and his or her mother.  This Prenatal program is offered in limited availability so please contact us for schedule details if you are interested.
